The Cock (National Pub of the year twice in the last decade) is a country pub and restaurant serving modern British food. Our pub and restaurant are seperate spaces allowing the local pub to survive and thrive. Expect first rate food and drink in traditional surroundings and al fresco dining in our lovely garden. Our team are warm, professional and delightful!

The Cock sits close to the Great Ouse river in the lovely village of Hemingford Grey not far from Huntingdon and St Ives.
See a review from the Guardian here.

There are some lovely riverside walks along the Ouse River up to Houghton Mill and through Hemingford Abbots. We welcome dogs in the pub and the garden but not in the restaurant. Please note, we don’t serve food in the pub side during the evenings or on Sunday lunch times.

Pod Dining

We have two dining pods in our garden. Hire fee includes private use of the fully enclosed dining pod with heating and lights. You will receive the same great table service as if you were inside, with everything being brought to you in a safe and convenient way. They really are fun and well worth the effort to book!

Houghton Mill

Houghton Mill is a National Trust treasure in the delightful village of Houghton, either a 2-mile walk from Hemingford Grey or a 5-minute drive and a short walk!

Along with the Houghton Mill, there’s also the Manor House, walking and boating along the River Ouse, plus more so why not take a look at what else you can do in the village.

Sustainability

Supporting our community

In September 2018 we launched the Cambscuisine Community Fund (CCF). Across all of our restaurants we've been raising money to support vulnerable people in Cambridgeshire. For every bill over £30, in all of our restaurants, we've been adding a discretionary £1 added to it to support the Fund. We have raised over £185,000 for local charities some of whom we work with outside of this fund.
